Commencement

The Sting was what made Ronica McBride special-that, and the years the interstellar government called the Com had invested in teaching her how to use it. Class C talents could use the power called gathering to control their own bodies; the less common Class Bs used pathfinding to alter the inner wor

kings of mechanical things; but only the rare Class A could use the Sting-and it was that unparalleled power over other minds that made Ronica the most valuable resource in the Com. Newly graduated and ready to use her Class A talent, Ronica McBride should have had the worlds at her fingertips. But

instead she was lost on an unknown planet, hurt, alone, with no memory of how she had gotten there-and she had lost her Sting. Gathering and pathfinding were tools, not weapons. Without her Sting, Ronica could not stop the Stonehouse dwellers who rescued her from promptly trading her away to the chi

ef of a primitive tribe. And as Ronica struggled to find a place for herself on the wilderworld, accept her loss of talent, and regain her missing memories, she began to discover that everything the Com had taught her was a lie... ames started reading when she was four, writing when she was nine, and always got "talks too much" as a comment on her report cards. She fell in love with science fiction years before the field become respectable and with her husband about eight months before he became respectable. She has been runn

ing the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon since 1975 (before rafting became fashionable); her wilderness experiences taught her that life does exist without technology. That was a valuable lesson, because right after she got her M.B.A., she ditched corporate America, where employers thought sh

e should think the way they did just because they were paying her. She is grateful that science fiction, white-water rafting, self-employment, minimalism, and monogamy have all reached the mainstream now, because she’s always wanted to be part of the gang.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is an ancient medical system, which originated in China around 2,000 or 3,000 years ago, based on the belief that illness is caused by disruptions and imbalances in the flow of the body’s vital energy or Qi (氣). This is the study of human physiology-pathology, als

o the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of human diseases. It views the human body as an integrated whole that takes a deep understanding of the laws and patterns of the nature and applies them to the human body. This study aims to provide to domestic and international students and Health Care Work

ers a full trilingual learning handbook about Traditional Chinese, which allows TCM to be applied in other countries or to be used for future training in Taiwan. This study used literature information from National Yang Ming University Library, Government agencies and internet sources using Pub-Med,

Google and google scholar to search terms such as ‘‘Chinese Medicine” and “International students”, “Chinese Medicine Literature”. Data from websites of medical schools about Chinese medicine, Taipei City Hospital, professors and TCM doctors experience, lab meeting, workshops, Symposiums and confere

nces about TCM also were gathered. The results obtained a trilingual handbook of introduction on traditional Chinese medicine is created for international students and health care workers, written in English, Spanish and Chinese languages with eight chapters and three appendixes.Chapter one, two, thr

ee and four describe about the basic concepts of traditional Chinese medicine such as: general introduction of traditional Chinese medicine, the foundational theories, causes of diseases and diagnosis and patterns. Chapter five provides information about treatment, and chapter six about herbal medic

ine which includes Chinese crude drugs. Acupuncture and moxibustion is described in chapter seven. Chapter eight is a full content of traditional Chinese medicine in Taiwan. In appendices, I try to summarize in a useful way the commonly used herbs, prescriptions and acupuncture points. This book has

almost 120 pages in the English version.Traditional Chinese medicine has been found to be very useful for treating many diseases. It now has a much more promising future than before. Medical literature is found in all large libraries throughout Taiwan and mainland China, but until now there is not a

full trilingual manual written in English, Spanish and Chinese for training international students.
