近年全球失智症人口快速增加，臺灣也不例外，臺灣失智症協會估計未來46年中每40分鐘就會增加1位失智症患者。然而多數研究指出失智症患者多為居住於家中，且在疫情的影響之下居家照護的數量持續增加。由家人提供非正式的照顧，照顧者則會因此面臨各種壓力。除此之外，亦有研究指出面對失智等級嚴重的患者提供過多的照顧服務，反而是較沒有效率的。因此本研究認為照顧者的時間分配是極為重要的關鍵，而目前失智症相關的研究雖有衡量照顧與休息的最適時間，但尚未考量照顧者的工作時間以及經濟相關面向。因此本研究採用Wang與Li (2009) 的家庭模型之概念，建立一個非正式照顧的時間分配模型，以估計出照顧、工作、休閒活動以及

喘息服務的最適時間，期望能改善照顧者的生活品質，以休閒活動來減輕壓力，並能分配多一點工作時間來減輕經濟壓力。而研究結果顯示，若提供非正式照顧者為兩人，薪資水準較低的家庭成員將要付出更多的工作時間，休閒時間則較另一位家庭成員少，薪資水準較高的成員則相反，而在照顧時間的部分，兩位家庭成員所需付出的照顧時間則相等。
